FREE SAMPLE PACK

Topic Progress:

I find it’s much easier to create songs by starting with something inspiring I hear, whether it’s a full song I take pieces from to remix, or a short melody loop. Then I’ll manipulate it with effects and add things around it while composing and developing different audio and MIDI clips into scenes.

I’ve created folders with some of my own favorite samples for you! Follow the steps below to download and enjoy 🙂

Here’s how I recommend organizing your samples inside Ableton’s User Library...

1. Download sample pack

2. Unzip the file, then place the Dan Giffin Sample Pack folder inside Ableton’s User Library. On your computer, find your User Library here….

  • Windows: Users[username]/Documents/Ableton/User Library
  • Mac: Macintosh HD/Users/[username]/Music/Ableton/User Library

3. Go to Ableton’s User Library in the Browser (under Places), the Sample Pack should show up there.

(Optional) You can also choose “Add Folder” to manually add new folders.

I highly recommend checking out a website like Splice Sounds for building your own library of good custom samples! Click here to read an article about using it. A lot of well-known artists in electronic music rely on Splice for getting their favorite samples. The desktop app is awesome for using Splice’s quick filters to find exactly what you’re looking for based on genre, key, tempo, etc.
